Web Hosting

While we are developing your web site, it will be placed in a directory on our site. You will be able to access it through its URL, which will be:

www.swdstudios.com/yourcompany

(where yourcompany will be replaced by your company name.

But eventually you are going to need somewhere else to place your web site. You might have some web space included with your ISP account. In that case the URL would be something like:

www.providername.net/~username/mypage.htm

That might be a good choice for perhaps a personal or a club page. But a small business should have space on a server where you can have your own domain name:

www.yourcompany.com

We don't provide web hosting services. However, we have found several companies that are both low-cost and reliable. Of course, you can always sign up for one of the services offering "free" web sites if you like. (That is, if you don't mind the advertising — especially those annoying pop-up ads!) Just be aware that some of these services require that you use their own design program to construct your pages. We don't do that.

If you don't need e-commerce, you can get 100 MB of space on a server (enough for a moderate-size site) for just $3.00 a month, with no initial setup fee.

If you do need e-commerce and more space, you can get 300 MB for just $99 per year (no setup fee), and it includes a free shopping cart. Whatever your needs, we'll find a place to park your web site that won't cost any more than you need to spend.

If you want to register your own domain name, don't pay the typical $35 per year — you shouldn't have to pay more than $5.99 per year! If you want to check for availability of a domain name, go to Network Solutions.

As part of your design package, we'll assist you in setting up a web-hosting account, registering your domain name, and/or transfering your web site to its very own place.
